Chanukah Presents from Mombo

We received 8 lovely presents from my mom for Chanukah this week. Treats included a tabloid magazine, instant hot chocolate, vegetarian chili mix, chai tea, candy and chocolate covered pretzels. Andrew showed me the new tradition of enrobing a nearby pet in holiday ribbon. I'm enjoying my first official Chanukah.

Palermo Soho Afternoon

We decided to walk to Palermo Soho for beer, peanuts and steak. On the way we found a great store specializing in mate paraphenalia. After some deliberation ("what type of mate am I?") Andrew picked out a gourd and a bombilla. Then we cruised through the weekend flea market at Plaza Serrano before landing at Sullivans for pints of draft Guiness, bowls of shuckable peanuts ('mani') and Otro Mundo roja, a local artisinal beer that I now adore. First class afternoon!

Enough Malbec. Bring on the beer!

Even a lover of wine like me can start to long for a cold cerveza tirada-draft beer. Andrew and I went to Antares in Palermo last night to do a flight (under $5.50) and eat some bad bar food. Beer 7, food 4, experience fun!

Polo rainout = Chinatown trip

It's the hot season of polo now in Argentina but the matches keep getting rained out, extending the finals into February is my guess. With no polo, we went to Barrio China for some greasy vegetarian Chinese food and a little supermarket exploration. This arch was the best part.
